Nascar Bracket Challenge - Rules
SETUP:
This pool is similar to the March Madness pools run on this site, except it's used with Nascar drivers. It is perfect for someone who wants to join a Nascar league, but does not wish to play the whole season. This bracket challenge is an additional pool run periodically during the Nascar season. This will not replace any full season league run on this site.
32 drivers/car numbers are placed in a single-elimination bracket seeded 1 through 32 based primarily on their Nascar points at the time of placement.
Each bracket challenge is 5 rounds long.
Each round in the bracket represents the next points race on the Nascar schedule.
The following races will be used in next Bracket Challenge:

For determining winners for each matchup, points accumulated during the assigned race will be used to determine which drivers advance to the next round.
WHAT TO DO:
Choose who you think will win every matchup through each of the 5 rounds all the way to the championship.
NOTE: Its total race points, not finishing position, that determine which car advances to the next round.
Points will be awarded for each correct pick according to the point structure below.
Additional points will be awarded for the seed number of the winning teams you choose.
POINTS DISTRIBUTION:
Each correct pick in the 1st Round: 1 point
Each correct pick in the 2nd Round: 2 points
Each correct pick in the Quarterfinals: 4 points
Each correct pick in the Semifinals: 8 points
Each correct pick in the Championship: 16 points
SEED BONUS POINTS:
The seed of the winning team is added to your point total. Since anyone can pick the higher-ranking drivers and do relatively well, a twist has been added to reward those that pick upset winners.
Example #1:
If you choose the #32 seed and they win in Round 1, you receive 33 points for that correct pick.
(32 (seed) + 1 (correct pick in Round 1) = 33 points)
Example #2:
If you choose #10 seed and they win in the semifinals, you receive 18 points for that correct pick.
(10 (seed) + 8 (correct pick in Round 4) = 18 points)
You must get the pick correct in order to get the bonus points.
CAR NUMBERS USED TO DETERMINE POINTS:
Since bracket seeds will be determined based on car number, we will be using car numbers to determine points for each matchup. Any replacement drivers will still get points for the car they drive.
For example: Josh Berry subbed for Chase Elliott for a few races in 2023. If this were to happen during the pool, the 9 car will still earn points with Berry as the driver.
WINNERS/TIEBREAKERS:
The entry that accumulates the most points according to their correct picks and additional points will become the Bracket Challenge champion. If there is a tie the following criteria will break any ties:
Tiebreaker #1: The entry that selects the most correct picks in the entire pool will win the tiebreaker.
Tiebreaker #2: Strength of Victory (SOV): Add (or subtract) the scoring differential for each matchup. Correct picks add to this total. Incorrect picks subtract from this total.
Tiebreaker #3: If there is still a tie, all tied entries will split any respective payout.
MULTIPLE ENTRIES:
To increase your chances of winning, you may play as many times as you wish. Each entry will be scored separately.

SUBMISSION DEADLINES:
Selections for the entire bracket are due prior to the deadline of the first race on the schedule for that bracket challenge. Once the deadline has passed for that bracket, your picks are locked in for that challenge.
PICKS POSTED BY COMMISH: If you need help making your selections or are having computer problems, please contact me with your selections before the deadline and I will enter them for you. This must be done before the start of any bracket challenge or you are out of luck.
POSTING SELECTIONS/RESULTS:
WHEN ARE SELECTIONS POSTED: Selections are posted shortly after the deadline of the first race of the bracket challenge.
WHEN ARE RESULTS POSTED: Unofficial Results are posted shortly after Nascar posts the results at the conclusion of each race. The race is not official until Nascar deems the race results official on Tuesday following each race.
DISQUALIFIED DRIVERS/POINTS DEDUCTIONS:
If a driver is disqualified by Nascar after the race, they will be disqualified in this challenge as well. Where they are placed in the finalized Nascar race results (presumably last place) will be where they finish in these challenges. They will receive the corresponding points that go with that finish.
If a driver/car is docked points by NASCAR after a race and does not cause a disqualification, such as driver/crew conduct, there will be no points deductions in this challenge.
SCORING (RACE POINTS BREAKDOWN):
Race Points awarded based on the following:
1.) Cars that finish in the Top 10 after Stage 1 of each race
2.) Cars that finish in the Top 10 after Stage 2 of each race
