2026 NFL Start 'Em Once Guillotine League - Rules
LEAGUE SETUP:
If you have played in any of the leagues and pools here at PFS, we sometimes do things a little differently. This is one of those leagues. This league more commonly known as a King of the Mountain or Chop Leagues, but this one has a bit of a twist. If you are still interested, please read further. Here's how our unique format works:
No Draft/Start Em Once:
You can start any player you want any week during the season (as long as your lineup is legal), however once that player is used, you may not use him the rest of the season. There is NO DRAFT.
Standings Setup:
-Teams use accumulated points to determine their position in the standings.
-No teams are sent to the Guillotine until the end of Week #5 of the NFL season.
-After Week #5 games, any team not in the Top 15 in total points is sent to the Guillotine.
-Each week thereafter, the last placed team based on overall total points is eliminated until 4 teams remain at the end of Week #16 games.
-The 4 teams remaining will play in a 4 team bracket over the final 2 weeks to determine the champion.
-The last team remaining will be the NFL Start Em' Once Guillotine League champion.
-An optional 3rd Place game could be added to the schedule. This will depend on the number of teams playing and will be announced when the season starts.
Guillotine/Eliminations Setup:
-Eliminated teams will be placed in the Guillotine.
-Each week in the Guillotine, teams start at zero points every week.
-Teams in the Guillotine continue to use the same roster rules in an attempt to score as many points as possible each week.
-The 2 teams with the highest weekly score will be placed at the top of the Guillotine standings.
-Every week thereafter until the end of the season, Guillotine teams try to improve on their highest score to move up the Guillotine leaderboard.
-The 2 teams that are atop of the Guillotine standings after Week #18 will earn secondary payouts.
The goal is to keep everyone playing throughout the season and also gives everyone 4 chances at a payout.
League Alignment: A minimum of 15 teams all placed in one division.
Depending on the number of teams entered, the commish has the option to split them up into separate Divisions/Conferences treated as separate leagues. This will be at the discretion of the league commissioner at the start of the season.
Tiebreakers Standings: Should 2 teams be tied for the worst points and eligible for the Guillotine, both teams instead will advance to the following week. The following week 2 teams will eliminated and sent to the Guillotine untili the correct number of teams remain to ensure 4 teams remain after Week #16.
Tiebreakers Guillotine: If 2 teams are tied for either 1st or 2nd place in the Guillotine at the end of the season, the payout will be split between the teams tied.
WEEKLY LINEUPS:
Each week choose 6 different players to comprise your legal lineup each week. As mentioned in the league setup above, if you use a player one week, you may not use him again for the remainder of the season, so choose wisely.
1 QUARTERBACK
1 RUNNING BACKS
1 TIGHT END
1 WIDE RECEIVER
1 FLEX
1 KICKER
1 DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
Illegal Lineup: If at any time during the season it is discovered that a team posts an illegal lineup, the roster position that made the team illegal will score zero points for that week. Rosters will be checked weekly to ensure that they are all legal.
If you do not make changes to your lineup for a particular week, you entire roster will be illegal and score zero points for that week.
If you leave a roster spot empty, but otherwise have a legal lineup, only the empty spot will score zero points for your team.
Penalties will be assessed, if not already assessed by the league manager software, after the Monday night game(s) is/are completed.
If you wish to be successful in this league, you will need to have a legal roster every week.
ADDITIONAL SETUP:
Player Pool: All NFL Rosters
Position Eligibility: Determined by My Fantasy League.com- Any position you feel was assigned incorrectly, please contact the league office.
Weekly Starting Lineups: Each week begins on Tuesday and ends after Monday Night Football games have been completed.
Starting Lineup Deadlines: Each fantasy team is responsible for submitting a starting lineup around 5 minutes before each player's game time each week, including Wednesday & Thursday games. This lineup will be used for the current week's games.
Week 1: If you do not submit a lineup for Week 1 before the deadline, you will have the option of withdrawing from the league, or you can take the score of zero for Week 1 and continue playing. Obviously, you want to avoid this, but the commish will give you the option if it does happen.
IMPORTANT: It is the responsibility of all team owners to make sure that weekly changes get accepted via the online league manager. The league commissioner will not be responsible for any changes being late, lost, or misdirected as a result of any computer malfunction, delay, etc. If you are having computer problems, contact the commissioner before the deadline and he will enter your desired changes for you.
